A Trapper's Cabin

"Trapper's Cabin"

That old log Trapper's Cabin sure stood out
Like a landmark in those "Teton Peaks"
A slight wisp of smoke trail'd toward the sky
Accompanied by rubbing snags with their eerie creak!

The fall weather had a Crisp bite to the Wind
And the Aspens had taken on a golden glow
The trapper'd been split'n shakes to patch the roof
And that darn woodpile sure had to grow!

The trapper had built the cabin from Cedar Logs
Big enough to withstand the Winter Snows
The shutter'd windows let in little light
So he'd read his precious books by the lanterns glow!

Those little shelters he'd built out on the Trap Line
Made his Log Cabin seem like a King's Castle
And the Meadows, Aspens, Lakes and Shining Mountains
Were the Trapper's Treasures without the hassle!
