The Fred Oldfield Western Heritage Center is dedicated to the preservation of Fred’s dream of sharing his love of life, his Western Art, and the history of the American West. As an interactive learning center it celebrates and promotes this dream for all generations.

Fred Oldfield Cordially invites you to join him for a fun filled October weekend! Meet over 100 of the country's top artists. See over 20,000 square feet of art displays. There will be:

  • and of course - Free Peanuts!

For this year we have planned some interesting and fun demonstrations such as paper making, Leather Tooling, Pioneer Basket Weaving and Quilting, and Black Powder Gun Building.

Returning to the show by popular demand will be the Ranier "2 Cylinder Club" with their tractors and other equipment.

We will again have a variety of exciting Auctions by Auctioneer Steve Mitzner with free Wine and Cheese.

Entertainment will include the ever popular Rockin' HW with Alan Halvorson, Morrey Walter, and Mike Whittaker and also Donn Allard and his Country Music.

Western and Wildlife Art has something for everyone such as paintings, carvings, bronzes and jewelry to name a few mediums. Besides wildlife the show will feature western scenes, Victorian scenes, historical scenes, landscapes, florals, portraits and marine life -- truly something for everyone! We'll all be looking for you, so please do plan to come on down and enjoy our old west hospitality!

East Pierce County Open Studio Tour

October 31 through November 2, 2008 - 10am-4pm

We will be participating in the 2008 Open Studio Tour again this year.

The Sunday, November 2nd closing event for the tour will be held here and we will be open all three days.

Make plans now to attend as we will have Peggi Rowe, Aletha Deuel, Paul Langston and of course Fred Oldfield on site painting and greeting guests.

2008 Fiddler's Contest

August 8th and 9th, 2008

We will be hosting the 2008 Fiddler's Contest again this year.

Friday, 8 August, 2008 will be the day of the Old time Fiddle and Variety Show for Seniors which will commence at 2:00 PM. This year there will also be a Junior and Open Picker's Division which should liven things up even more!

Make plans now to attend and enjoy a real old time tradition brought into this country from the British Isles that has lived and traveled west with the settlers of this country.

March 29, 2008 - Fred's 90 year Birthday Bash


Come and wish Fred a Happy Birthday and enjoy some cake while you see the great pieces of work that the Center students have created over the winter. Noon to 4pm at the Center. Entertainment will also be provided by the Rockin HW Musicians and Poets and also County Singer Donn Allard.

JONI HARMS Will be our Featured Entertainer! Joni is a frequent guest of the famed Grand Ole Opry and has lit up the stage at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Her numerous awards include the 2002 Academy of Western Artists coveted Entertainer of the Year Award and the 2003 Western Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year.

Our Host for the evening will be Country’s Favorite ICHABOD CAINE! He says "We’re going to Paint the Night Red! Think Red. That’s the only hint I can let out of the bag - Fire Engine Red -- Red Coats -- Red Dresses"

March 18th to be named Fred Oldfield Day!

To honor Fred for his contribution for so many years of service to the community the Governor is going to name March 18th - Fred Oldfield Day in the state.

They will have the ceremony in Olympia on the 22nd of February. He will be honored in the Senate at 10:00 AM and I just got word we can all go to watch the ceremony!!. I think it will be a great opportunity for the kids as well as adults.

I should hear from them in the next day or two & will have all the info at that time - where - when - driving directions etc. Please let me know if you think you'd like to make the trek to Oly to be with Dad and I'll get you all the info.
