Once Upon a Time in the West
Saturday, May 7th

Yes, it is PARTY TIME!!!

We will be celebrating our re-opening with this party and EVERYONE is invited! It is a Dinner Theater event and by reservation only. Seating is limited and tickets are $45.00 per person for Dinner and Entertainment, and a chance to tour the Center and enjoy a night out with friends. Use this link to make your reservation online (please allow new window) or give us a call at one of the phone numbers below.

There will be plenty of food, music, melodarama, gunfights (all in fun), an old time jail, and popular characters right out of the old time West. Matter of fact, we have even managed to arrange for some old time photographers to provide some old time photos of new things and people.

Old Time Photos

This is a great time to come and see the new displays and paintings and to stroll down our "trivia wall". It will also give you a chance to see Fred's new "Cowboy Studio"--Yep, we have built him a line shack for a studio just like he used to use.

We are also trying to locate old Western Artifacts so if you have anything like an old butter churn or an oxen yoke, or old worn out pack saddles lurking in your attics or barns this event would be a great time to bring them to us to share with the less fortunate who think butter always came in bricks from stores and that movin' supplies always entailed a fancy pick-up truck.

While mingling with friends at our party, both old and new, it might also be a good time to see if you might be interested in being a Center Volunteer--always needed and always appreciated.

The Fred Oldfield Western Heritage Center is still conveniently located inside the Red Gate on 9th Ave SW at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.

If you have any questions, please call us at

253-445-9175 or toll free at 1-866-445-9175.

The FOWHC proudly presents
"Experience Art with Fred"
Winter Session 2005

"Experience Art with Fred" is a program designed to engage the student in a guided creative learning experience. Students from the ages of 6 to 18 years are welcome to participate in the program and we also offer classes for adults. These sessions are designed to increase self-esteem, patience, sequencing skills, problem solving, focus and right brain development. This is a non-competitive, structured environment. These skills can have a profound effect on regular work and life. Our Instructors strive to bring out the true artist in everyone.

The program is multifaceted and includes a guided tour of the Center and the Fred Oldfield paintings. The classes focus on design, shapes, composition, perspective, figure drawing, texture and color. The various classes also teach proper use of several different mediums such as pencils, oils, watercolors, acrylics, clay and found objects.

Throughout each class, the Instructors exploit the history of the Old West by incorporating various artifacts into the art projects, and sometimes through demonstrations that bring Old West skills such as basket weaving or primitive paper making.

The dedicated, intelligent and talented Instructors are all professional artists who treat their students with respect and caring. The classes are divided by age and size. There is one teacher and at least two volunteers for each fifteen students to help enhance the learning experience.

The Fred Oldfield Western Heritage Center is conveniently located inside the Red Gate on 9th Ave SW at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.

If you have any questions, please call us at

253-445-9175 or toll free at 1-866-445-9175.

FOWHC relocation and renovation

January will bring in the New Year and with it, the full speed ahead relocation of the Fred Oldfield Western Heritage Center. Our new location will still be at the Red Gate on the Fairgrounds but in a new building. As you walk through the gate you will turn to your immediate left and we are located just inside the entrance. We will now be open 12 months a year and will be open during both the Spring & Fall Fairs.

The new displays are being built and artifacts will be placed by the 3rd week in January. We will be putting out a Wanted list of artifacts that are still needed to complete our displays. The paintings will also be hung in Jan. The classroom is ready now and all the art supplies will be soon moved into the building.
