Cold Windy Morn'n
|
The weather start'd out pretty mild that morn'n As Charlie gather'd his gear for the northern line camp He'd saddle'd Brownie and put the pack on Red Dawn was just break'n as he turn'd out the lamp!
He'd rode fer about six hours or so When the temperature start'd drop'n like an axe Charlie knew he was in fer some trouble As he drag'd his wool parka out of the pack!
Prairie country is great when it's nice But a snow storm can make it a live'n nightmare Charlie found a little windbreak in some rocks Gather'd a pile cow chips with no time to spare!
He got a little fire go'n fer coffee and bacon Give the ponies a ration of oats to help'm stay warm The savage wind howl'd and the snow swirl'd thru the night At dawn he's in the saddle for another "Cold Windy Morn'n"!
