Close call at Dry Creek

"Close Call at Dry Creek"

The little cow town of Rock Bluff
Was right near to boring on an average day
But today the local Cattlemen's Association had met
And for the Sheriff, trouble was on its way!

Several of the local ranchers stop'd by his office
And they were madder than an old wet hen
They said Sheriff we're miss'n a bunch of Cattle
And we're a wonder'n when it's gonna end?

Now o'le Sheriff Blaine was an even temper'd guy
He says, fella's I'll go out and take a look around
Sort'a heard Rustlers were work'n the Dry Creek Country
But ya got'a know that takes in a whole lot of ground!

He grab'd his Winchester and a couple boxes of shells
Then he head'd over to the General Store
Picked up about three days worth of provisions
Most likely, he'd wish he'd grab'd more!

He'd searched for a couple long days along Dry Creek
When in the distance he seen a faint Smoke Trail
He rode up to the fire, found a Run'n Iron still hot
A Close Call, but the Rustlers had eluded his Jail!
