It was held at Expo hall
Puyallup Fairgrounds (Entrance through GOLD Gate).
The show was held with a record number of guests in attendance. There were over 20 school groups that attended. The students were amazed at the variety of art work presented and they enjoyed meeting all the artists and gathering cards, brochures and autographs.
The artists were delighted to visit with all the patrons both during the day and the evening. Friday and Saturday evenings found them enjoying the Wine and Cheese, Silent Auctions, Quick Draws (one hour to create a piece of artwork)and the Live Auctions.
The Best of Show Awards went to:...
- Best of Show - Oil - Hulan Fleming, Monroe, WA.
- Best of Show - Watercolor - Valeria Yost, Ahsahka, ID.
- Best of Show - Mixed Media - Bev Plum, Marcola, OR.
- Best of Show - Sculpture - Tim Sullivan, Missoula, MT.
The "Richards" Patron Award was presented by the 2001 winner Doreen Ligrano of Graham, Wa to the winners for 2002, John and Mary Catherine Manley of Fircrest, WA.
This award is presented to the patron that best exemplifies the Richards' legacy. They collected art for the pleasure it brought to them and to the artists. They continually supported young artists as well as established ones. They will always be remembered for their honorable lives, their gifts of appreciation, encouragement, generosity and love.
